And ref is right, it takes a heckuva long time to farm that kind of XP.
do i understand this right, u want for example:

When i dont die, i need the 1337500 exp for r3
When i die once, my exp get resettet, i start again at lvl 1, but have then only to hunt for example 1205000 exp for r3
i die once again, start again at lvl 1, but have then only 1075000 exp to farm for r3.

hmm, in this fact an nice idea, but whats with the exp of quests and missions lost ? do quests reset then too, or lose players all the exp made through quests and have to farm all the stuff oO

This would bhe a nice idea im, but it should be limited for example 5 times, when i die a six time, its over and u lose this title finally.

Example:

0 Death > 1337500 exp
1 Death > 1205000 exp - get 5% lesser exp from monsters
2 Deaths > 1075000 exp - get 10% lesser exp from monsters
3 Deaths > 875050 exp - get 15% lesser exp from monsters
4 Deaths > 680500 exp - get 20% lesser exp from monsters
5 Deaths > 500000 exp - get 25% lesser exp from monsters
6 Deaths > DEAD END - Title Lose

So more u die, so lesser the exp will be, that u receive for killing monsters and enemies and the exp reduction gets only again normal, once u receive r3.

That would be imo a really fair solution for ALL, old charakters should get a quest, which gives those charas an 1 single item, that when they use it, that the death counter of this chara, which used this item, gets resetted to 0.
Thats something, that should be able to do it on a normal programable way.
May we call this item "Elixier of Life" ^^ or "Ambrosia" XD
And the time u died for the title, will be then seeable in the title itself.
Example:

Legendary Survivor (3)-0D
Legendary Survivor (3)-1D

and so on ... but regardless, if u died now 0 times or up to 5 times, title counts same ... and best thing of all is, once u died, stupid anet would enforce nobody then anymore, to delete direct the characters, only for receiving a new chance for the title !!!
The player would have then self up to 5 chances and gets ever only the exp resetted and has to lvl up again ..., when u want to.
So when u want to get resettet for new chance, u talk then to a npc in a town like Kaineng, Kamadan or Lion's Arch...

Your point is?

If you are going to do that with a "reset" then you'll do it, or have done it with a new character.

Guild Hall glitches, solo farming build, and leveling services have already been done for new characters, and are the most common method most Legendary Survivors have attained their titles.

I'm sitting here waiting for your proof on that one, seeing as you seem to be passing it off as fact.

signed, please arena net this is a small change that'll still keep the title a good thing and not as easy to accomplish.

I wasnt even aware of the Survivor title the first time I made a character. How was I supposed to know I could get a title for that? It's impossible to get Survivor in Presearing Ascalon. Needless to say, I died plenty of times. Now, my Ranger recently got 200,000 exp without dying. Why should I be robbed of a title that I rightly earned?

Because you didn't earn it. Look, it chaps my ass that I'm no longer eligible for Survivor on my main either, but if they change the title so you can get it after dying, it no longer makes sense -- "I've died 57 times, but I'm a survivor!". That's silly. Also, as someone said before (possibly even in this thread), it'd be little more than one of those "X days since our last accident" signs you see in workplaces.

/notsigned. I'd like to have my main be a survivor as badly as you /signers, but I can accept the fact that the title loses all prestige if you can farm it anytime.

It's like asking ANet to allow you to go back to pre-searing so you can earn the defender of ascalon title. It just doesn't work that way.

/Signed.. kinda

Reason I'd like to see this happen is that I've actually been considering remaking my characters over just a stupid title. Tbh, I deleted 3 out of 4 characters last week, just to get titles & start fresh. Stuff like that get stressful, but I am not willing to remake my 800 hours+ PvE warrior just because I made him before the titles got released!

I do however, find it a better idea if you'd get a one time death reset (and maybe with this, an increased number of experience needed to get the title..)

Cheers.

I sign only in fact of the title 2 things:

1st: old characters, that r so old, that they could never get a chance to receive the title and would be forced to get deleted should receive an 1 time only chance to reset their death counter as long their try to receive then the title.
The old death counter gets saved under the account information for this character, but gets meanwhile resetted to 0, when u die now then, u get back ur old death counter +1

2nd: the whole title shpould become resetable !!!, what i mean with this is following:
no created character should be enforced to get deleted, when once died ...
thats ******** annoying, when u get enforced to delete ur beloved character, only for receiving a new chance, when u want to have the title ....
SO players should have the chanc,e to simple reset their characters exp, so that they start again at least at the title rank, they have succesful reached.

So reaching 140k and reaching 587k without dieing should become 2 safe points .
When u have also now 300k exp and u die now, u can get resetted to 140k and ur counter gets back, but u have to pay then a good amount of platin too for the reset, 25 platin for example ...

Importance of the title on one hand, or being not, on the other, in the end nobody will ask u, how u've reached rank 3 .. if by grinding, by elite skill hunting and questing, if u've leeched exp from by others, or if u've leaved missions for it ,only not to risk to die, when ur party members acted like being to dumb to survive for 5 minutes not able to heal each other good enough.
All this will nobody interest in the end, for the player itself its only important to reach rank 3, HOW ... is somewhat of extreme regardless and thats why i say, people should not put too much importance into this title or too much of "value"

I self have atm one character, with that ive good chance to receive now for my 1st time r3, a ranger with over 1,1 million exp not died yet and im happily hunting atm every elite skill that i can easily get by 2nd class changing.
i know, what it means, getting frustrated by this title, because of deleting beloved characters, that have reached meanwhile good other things in kind of titles... this ranger on that i'm now trying is my ..uhh. can't count it XD at least like over 20th try to get at least 1 single main chara with r3 and everytime one of my tries died, i was a bit frustrated, but then i said me ever and motivated myself:

"I'll get this god damn title with 1 chara, and whens the last thing, i do in my life".

What i not sign is:
losing the title, after u've received it -.-
When i reached r3 after weeks and months of extreme carefully playing, then i dont want to lose this title anymore, when i die then after the receive of it -.-
that would be really the most ********* thing, anet could do to their players, punishing them for dieing oO
even when its weird, that u have then the title, when u died x times after u have received r3 ... who cares this, fact is, u've survived 1,337500 exp, without dieing and u've fulfilled with that the point, u had to do for being a legendary survivor.

LDoA can be get by characters with more than 2 years.
It's a title that traits 'loyalty'.

Survivor an be got only by new characters. It's a title that punishes loyalty.

Just plain senseless.

And that's what should be changed.

Yes it's possible for a 2 year old character to get LDoA - if they have stayed in pre searing.

Using your logic it's possible for a 2 year old character to get Legendary survivor if they have never died.

You kinda made a point without making a point.

LDoA is meant to price those who stayed there.

Actually, they should remove the title for those who leave presearing, but that's for another thread to discuss.

//not signed - silly idea. No such thing as a survivor that died.

While you are at it you may as well ask for those req 8 15^50 platinum sickles that I customised on my rarely played assassin to be magically un-customised. How was I to know back then they were actually worth something .

I for one am glad this game locks some things in. Change for changes' sake is about my only bugbear with this game. I wish A-net would stop remaking the rules every 5 seconds and make us learn to live with what we have (and that also applies to the "can we change this please" culture as well).

"I want survivor for my veteran"
"Yeah, I wish I had known about this"
"It's impossible to not die in pre-searing"
"For old characters, the option should be made available"

Make a brand new character. Get rank 3 survivor. AND THEN tell me you want the title changed. It's a hell of a lot of work/effort/time/frustration
I'd like LDoA on my beautiful monk, because it'd go nicely with her rank 3 SURVIVOR title. but guess what? She's Canthan! It doesn't matter! She should be able to keep her fow armor, and go to Pre, and get the title, right? Of course not.

I really don't think the people who are /signing have any idea how hard it is to get level 3 survivor. I went through five characters and about 200+ hours of playtime to get mine, and that's not including all the rerolls I did, deleting characters that I spent days on because they died due to lag or some silly mistake. Heck, one character that had 100 hours of playtime died at around 1,332,000 experience just because I wanted to get that last 5,000 before going to bed and rushed it.

Besides, the idea for a "volitle" title that goes both up and down over time is contrary to how every other title in the game works. Even the current survivor and LDoA only go up... until they stop. You would never be "finished" with the title, and once you died once, you'd never be able to max it. With the current survivor, once you max it, you're free to do whatever you want with the character, including PvP. The entire PvE section of the title system is based around the idea of grinding until you've accomplished something, and then not doing it again - why go against that, just because some people don't want to put in the effort to making a survivor?

Hard? I got it in few time just by making Canthan quests with a Mesmer with Lissuion of Weakness and a signet capture weekend.

It's not 'hard'. It's just an average title that treats deleting characters.

A title that freezes is plain senseless.

Titles are meant to be tried anytime (With the exception of LDoA) and that one should banish if you leave PreSearing, completed or not.

absolutely positively /signed!

I also have my 'primary char' that I've played for well over two years now and (like many others!) it bothers me that I had no shot to achieve the Survivor title with him since prior to the advent of this title dying wasn't an issue.

ANet - please do something to allow me to try for this title with my old char! I've already achieved it with a mesmer, but I really want to get it on my first character and definitely don't want to remake him just for this (as he currently has 15 maxed titles)...

I've only been playing for a year, yet when I created my main character I didn't even know titles existed. Of course my character died. Many times. Nowadays I've developed an interest in titles and would love to have them all on this character. I know that's not gonna happen, but I would still like the chance to try.

First, for those of you arguing that this is a prestigious title and therefore it should be hard to get, I'll counter with the fact that it isn't hard to get. We've all seen the posts here that sound like 3am infomercials... "Get your Legendary Survivor Title in 20 hours or less!!!!! 3 Easy Steps!!!! Just buy my LS package today!!" Many folks have posted that they got the title in less than a day, or they paid a person some gold to power level them to LS, or they had a guildie powerlevel them to the title. Yeah, real prestigious.

If you achieved the title without using cheap gimmicks then you have something to be proud of, but when I see a random Legendary Survivor in town, I don't know how they achieved it, so I really don't think any better or worst of their skills.

However, I can understand the argument that once you lose the title, you lose it. It should be something special. With that in mind, here is my proposal. I think it's something that the signers and not signers may be able to agree upon.

Add a new quest to the game. This quest is not easily attainable and not easy to complete. The quest can only be obtained by...hmmm...maybe something like clearing the fow or clearing the DOA. If you clear the fow (complete all quests and kill all monsters) then a special NPC appears in the forge with a new quest. The new quest is a scavenger hunt that is equivalent in difficulty to something like the moa bird hunt and will cost you a pretty penny in gold to complete. Once completed, the NPC resets your death count as a reward making it possible to once again attempt the survivor track.

This quest is not repeatable. You get 1 reset only. If you blow it, tough!

Why not make this easy. Instead of converting the title track in place, have a new title track added. One that would allow a character made in Tyria or has died a 1000 deaths even able to make a Survivor title from that point on. This could be tweaked in such a way that it would compensate for the differences in the starting point and the difficulty because of the level of the character once started, but that you only get one shot at it per character, period.

This would allow for a mid-game start of the track, maybe even make it to where you have to accomplish afew extras just to be able to access the title track. Like Survivor quests or missions, and once completed, only then are you deemed worthy to take the path of a Survivor.

This to me would be easier then changing the current title track, doesn't involve tweaking those who already have the title or working on them, and preserves the title track as is.

The additional track could be called the Veteran Legendary Survivor title or something of that nature.
